1. Hold all the mouse buttons down until the smiley face's mouth is an 'O'; then hit Esc. This stops the timer. To restart the timer, just minimize the game and restore it.

2. Type "xyzzy", then hit Enter, then Shift. One pixel in the upper-left corner will turn white when you're not on a mine. (This is much easier to see if you are using a dark coloured desktop pattern, and the desktop must be visible. The pixel will not show through any windows.)
